Complete: #58 See Ani Difranco live!

The most incredible live performer ever, hands down. Beautiful. Passionate. Powerful.  This was my first time seeing Ani live, and it won’t be my last. Hearing her play live the same songs whose lyrics I have belted out from my heart, whose rhythms I have yielded my body to, whose melodies I have let wash over me without resistance… ohgod, it was amazing.

Laura and I saw her at the House of Blues in New Orleans on Sunday. We were on the balcony directly over the stage, and we were right behind a row of VIP seats inhabited by what I assume was some of Ani’s family, as they were passing around her baby! Yep, we got to see Petah Lucia DiFranco Napolitano, who is adorable and looks like a little blond Ani Difranco.

So, yeah. It was amazing. And afterwards…

Progress: #85: Stay in 5 nice and/or unique hotels. Blog them. (1/5)

We stayed at International House, a few blocks from the French Quarter. I won’t over-blog it because, frankly, you can look at the website. But I must comment on:

1. The bathtub. OMG. It was knee-deep from the inside, and the baths were magnificent. I took two. :D

2. The alarm clock? An ipod dock. Yay!

3. When we got back from the show, the entire lobby and lounge were dimmed and candlelit. It was so like a little fairy kingdom! Course, that might be two glasses of Merlot talking. :P

All in all, two thumbs up.  (The hotel’s fabulousness was totally reinforced by the fact that I spent the next two nights at a Best Western in Eunice, LA, for a work conference. Best Western’s rooms were bigger, but that’s about all I can give them.)
